9 out of 10 "jade eggs" on the market are fake jade eggs made of serpentine or onyx, 2 varieties of marble stones. Some merchants market these fake jades as "helu jade", "new jade", "xiuyan jade", "water jade",  or just "jade eggs" without mentioning the stone type. No matter what names are used, if the stones are not nephrite or jadeite, they are NOT jades, but jade simulants. Fake jade eggs are softer and have loose granular structure, and often de-color when contacting with moisture and air. Fake jade eggs are unsafe to use for this intimate purpose.

Nephrite is a healing stone that helps amplify body's natural self-healing capacity. It is proven scientifically that nephrite radiates far-infrared rays, which bring beneficial effects on human body, especially on skin, blood circulation and skin cell vitalizing. Nephrite jade is particularly helpful for healing kidney, stomach, arthritis,  bladder,  joints and stiffness complains.

The name "nephrite" is from Greek "nephros", which means ‘kidney’ with reference to its benefits in treating kidney diseases. In Chinese culture, nephrite jade is considered the "Stone of Heaven". The jade egg used in Taoist practice since ancient time was nephrite.

Nephrite is harder than steel because its  tightly packed interwoven fibrous structure that makes it very tough, strong and dense. Nephrite jade is harder and  heavier than most stones,  makes it a perfect choice for yoni eggs.
